The CinePearl Take
Emmanuel Courcol’s direction balances slapstick set‑pieces with moments of quiet melancholy, allowing the protagonist’s reluctant heroism to shine. The lead—played by an unknown but magnetic newcomer—delivers a surprisingly nuanced performance, grounding the film’s more absurd antics. While the pacing occasionally stutters in the middle act, the final showdown ties the thematic threads together with satisfying wit.
