The CinePearl Take
Anthony Chen’s direction is a masterclass in restraint—every lingering shot feels purposeful, amplifying the sense of isolation. Lead newcomer Mei Lin delivers a breakout performance, balancing vulnerability with steely resolve as her character confronts both external danger and internal demons. The film’s deliberate pacing may test patience, but it rewards viewers with a nuanced meditation on trust and survival in an unforgiving environment.
