The CinePearl Take
Barratier’s direction is both reverent and daring, allowing the narrative to breathe without slipping into melodrama. A standout performance comes from the lead child actor, whose quiet resolve anchors the film’s emotional core. The pacing is deliberately measured, mirroring the slow, dangerous rhythm of clandestine resistance work, while the recurring motif of coded lullabies underscores the theme of innocence weaponized against tyranny.
