The CinePearl Take
Ishikawa’s direction is a masterclass in restraint, letting the set design dictate the film’s pulse rather than relying on cheap jump scares. The breakout performance by newcomer Aiko Tanaka anchors the mystery with a quiet intensity that makes every confined space feel suffocatingly personal. While the pacing occasionally stalls in the middle act, the final act’s relentless tightening of the plot delivers a satisfying payoff that lingers long after the credits roll.
