The CinePearl Take
Schmitt’s direction is confidently assured, using long, lingering takes to let the film’s surreal logic breathe. Maya Lin, in her breakout role as the weary wish‑agent, delivers a quietly powerful performance that anchors the narrative’s emotional core. The pacing occasionally drifts, but the thematic payoff—examining desire, responsibility, and the fragility of hope—remains compelling throughout.
