The CinePearl Take

While the premise feels familiar, Pogue extracts fresh terror by focusing on the psychological unraveling of his characters rather than cheap jump‑scares. Cooke’s nuanced portrayal of a rational mind forced to confront the inexplicable is the film’s strongest asset, giving the narrative a human core. The pacing is deliberately measured, allowing the house’s oppressive silence to become a character in its own right, though the climax leans on predictable tropes.
