The CinePearl Take

Paddy Considine’s directorial debut is a masterclass in restrained intensity, letting silence speak louder than dialogue. Olivia Colman shines as the wounded yet resilient Hannah, offering a nuanced counterpoint to Mullan’s volatile, self‑destructive Alan. The film’s deliberate pacing amplifies the simmering dread, while its unvarnished depiction of abuse forces viewers to confront uncomfortable truths about love and violence.
