Why Watch This
Under the Skin is a hypnotic blend of horror and arthouse sci‑fi that uses Scarlett Johansson’s alien seductress to explore humanity’s emptiness and desire. Its stark Scottish landscapes and minimalist score create an unsettling, immersive experience unlike typical genre fare.

The CinePearl Take
Glazer’s direction turns a simple premise into a meditative nightmare, with Johansson delivering a hauntingly detached performance that feels both alien and eerily human. The film’s deliberate pacing forces viewers to linger on moments of quiet terror, letting the stark visuals and Mica Levi’s dissonant score do the heavy lifting. Its central theme—the commodification of bodies and the search for identity—resonates long after the credits roll.
