Why Watch This
Vellam offers a stark, unvarnished look at alcoholism and the quest for redemption, anchored by a powerhouse performance that refuses to romanticize the struggle. Its grounded storytelling and vivid portrayal of Kerala’s monsoon-soaked world make it a compelling slice‑of‑life drama.

The CinePearl Take
Prajesh Sen paces the film deliberately, letting the protagonist’s withdrawal feel palpable and never rushing the emotional beats. Jayasurya delivers his most vulnerable turn yet, embodying the fury and fragility of a man teetering on the edge. The supporting cast, especially the mother figure, grounds the story in heartfelt authenticity, while the cinematography uses rain‑slick streets as a visual metaphor for cleansing. Though the narrative occasionally meanders, its raw honesty about the battle with addiction leaves a lasting impact.
