The CinePearl Take
Shashi Kapoor shines as the charismatic younger brother, balancing swagger with vulnerability, while Sadhana’s ethereal presence anchors the film’s emotional core. Chopra’s pacing cleverly interweaves the earthquake’s aftermath with the characters’ personal reckonings, turning a disaster premise into a meditation on destiny and class. The lavish song‑and‑dance set‑pieces feel organic, never detracting from the narrative tension.
