The CinePearl Take
Christy Garland’s patient, observational style lets Walaa’s voice dominate the frame, turning ordinary chores into powerful statements about belonging. The pacing is deliberately slow, mirroring the protagonist’s own adjustment period, and the moments when Walaa laughs amid hardship feel especially striking. The film’s central theme—what it means to claim agency after displacement—resonates long after the credits roll.
