Why Watch This
Even with a blank slate for cast and a zero‑point IMDb rating, 'Written & Directed by God' dares to explore the metaphysical through the lens of everyday Kerala life. Its austere cinematography and contemplative pacing create a meditative space that feels more like a prayer than a conventional narrative.
Best For
Malayalam cinema enthusiasts, Spiritual drama fans, Indie film lovers, Festival curators, Philosophy buffs
The CinePearl Take
The film’s biggest strength is its direction, which treats silence as a character and lets the landscape speak for the absent protagonists. While the lack of recognizable performances can be disorienting, the deliberate pacing rewards viewers who are willing to sit with ambiguity. Its central theme—human yearning for divine authorship—resonates powerfully, even as the narrative remains deliberately unresolved.
