The CinePearl Take
Though Zooni never saw a theatrical release, its surviving footage reveals Ali’s signature visual poetry—lush rural landscapes that echo the characters’ inner turmoil. Vinod Khanna delivers a restrained, almost poetic performance that hints at a darker, introspective hero, while Dimple Kapadia’s expressive eyes carry the emotional weight of the narrative. The pacing is deliberately measured, allowing the story’s themes of love, loss, and cultural transition to breathe, making the restoration project a must‑watch for anyone interested in Indian cinema’s hidden chapters.
