The CinePearl Take
Köhler’s direction leans heavily on naturalistic performances from non‑professional actors, creating an unsettling authenticity that feels almost documentary‑like. The pacing is deliberately slow, allowing the audience to sit with the characters’ lingering uncertainty. Themes of voluntary exile and the pressure of conformity are explored with a quiet, yet incisive, eye.
