Mother India remains a towering achievement in narrative ambition, with Nargis delivering a performance that is both tender and ferocious, embodying the nation’s motherland. Mehboob Khan’s direction balances intimate family moments with grand, almost mythic set‑pieces, while the film’s pacing allows the tragedy to unfold with a measured, inevitable weight.
