The CinePearl Take

Director Yuki Tanaka (a relative newcomer) handles the film with a patient eye, letting scenes breathe without resorting to melodrama. The breakout performance by newcomer Aki Sato as a wandering photographer anchors the narrative, delivering nuance with barely a word spoken. The pacing may feel deliberate, but it rewards viewers who appreciate visual storytelling over plot‑driven twists, while the subtle sound design underscores the city’s hum as a character in its own right.
