The CinePearl Take
Iizuka’s debut is anchored by a hauntingly intimate performance from the titular Mita (played by a newcomer whose expressive physicality carries the film). The pacing is deliberately unhurried, allowing the audience to breathe with each rehearsal and flashback. Themes of grief, resilience, and cultural identity intertwine, making the final dance sequence feel both cathartic and inevitable.
