The CinePearl Take
Lead actor Juan Cárdenas (as Detective Mateo) delivers a restrained yet explosive performance that anchors the film’s moral ambiguity. Herzog paces the narrative like a slow‑burn fuse, allowing each clue to surface with deliberate weight. The recurring motif of the rooster’s shadow serves as a powerful visual reminder of how past violence haunts the present.
