The CinePearl Take
Hubert Neufeld’s patient lens lets Fanni’s quiet resilience become the film’s quiet hero, turning paperwork and repairs into moments of unexpected poetry. The pacing mirrors the slow churn of a tavern’s doors, never rushed yet never stagnant. The documentary shines when it juxtaposes the warmth of the inn’s interior with the cold indifference of municipal meetings, underscoring a universal theme of preservation versus progress.
