The CinePearl Take
Maddin’s dead‑pan narration is the film’s backbone, guiding viewers through a labyrinth of fact and fantasy with a wry, nostalgic tone. Amii Stewart’s brief yet electrifying cameo adds an unexpected pop‑culture flare that underscores the city’s eclectic spirit. The pacing drifts like a lazy river, allowing the audience to linger on each surreal tableau while the recurring theme of “home as imagined” resonates long after the credits roll.
