The CinePearl Take
Motohiro’s direction keeps the narrative brisk, never allowing the tension to flag even as the plot leans heavily on familiar underdog tropes. While the cast remains a mystery, the titular character—sharply rendered through a restrained, almost stoic performance—anchors the film’s emotional core. Themes of resilience and personal honor surface amid a backdrop of urban decay, offering a surprisingly nuanced commentary on modern Japanese society.
