The CinePearl Take
Lead newcomer Maya Torres delivers a breakout performance, embodying Heumann’s vulnerability and stubborn hope without ever feeling melodramatic. Héder’s signature pacing—slow enough to let the audience breathe, but never stagnant—allows the film’s themes of autonomy and community to resonate powerfully. The screenplay’s understated dialogue and naturalistic sound design make every silent pause feel purposeful, turning the ordinary into something profoundly moving.
