The CinePearl Take
Shinkai’s direction dazzles with luminous animation that makes every drop of rain a character in its own right. Nana Mori’s vocal performance captures Hodaka’s restless optimism while Kotaro Daigo anchors the film with a quietly earnest tone. The pacing balances frantic city hustle with meditative moments, allowing the film’s deeper commentary on climate anxiety to resonate without feeling preachy.
