Why Watch This
Jung Bum‑shik’s “New Normal” captures the uneasy quiet of a society emerging from a pandemic, turning everyday routines into a tense psychological landscape. The film’s blend of dry humor and lingering melancholy makes it a sharp, timely meditation on how we adapt—or resist—change.

The CinePearl Take
The breakout performance by the film’s unknown lead, portraying a disillusioned office worker, anchors the story with a quiet intensity that never feels melodramatic. Jung’s pacing is deliberately measured, allowing the audience to feel the slow creep of anxiety that defines the “new normal.” Thematically, the movie excels at exposing the thin veneer of civility that crumbles under prolonged uncertainty, making its social commentary both personal and universal.
