The CinePearl Take
Akin’s direction balances a breezy, almost documentary‑like pace with poetic visual flourishes, allowing each character’s grief to breathe. Baki Davrak’s understated performance as the grieving German‑Turkish photographer anchors the film, while the tender, brief encounter between the gay Turkish man and a young German woman adds a poignant layer of forbidden intimacy. The film’s interlocking narrative structure feels both ambitious and emotionally resonant, making it a standout in contemporary European cinema.
