The CinePearl Take

Director Christian Sesma delivers a slick, kinetic pace that never lets the audience breathe, mirroring the film’s underwater setting. Richard Dreyfuss provides a surprisingly menacing mentor role, adding gravitas to the ensemble. The real standout is Scout Taylor‑Compton, whose calm under pressure makes the escalating dread feel genuinely personal. Though the creature design leans on familiar tropes, the relentless suspense and solid performances make it a worthwhile dive.
