Why Watch This
A wildly irreverent spin on medieval nunsploitation that trades solemnity for absurdist humor, anchored by a fearless ensemble that leans into the film’s bawdy premise. If you enjoy comedy that’s both historically skewed and unapologetically queer, this is a one‑of‑a‑kind romp.
Best For
Comedy lovers, LGBTQ fans, Irreverent humor seekers, Historical parody enthusiasts, Off‑beat date night, Jeff Baena admirers
The CinePearl Take
Alison Brie delivers a perfectly deadpan performance that anchors the chaos, while Nick Offerman’s unexpected sensuality adds a deliciously uncomfortable layer to the convent’s power dynamics. The film’s pacing is relentless, never allowing a dull moment as it barrels from one outlandish set piece to the next. Beneath the lewd jokes, Baena probes the clash between repressed desire and institutional control, making the laughs feel oddly resonant.
