Why Watch This
It Follows turns a simple teen‑drama premise into a relentless, slow‑burn nightmare, using a single, unstoppable curse that stalks its victims at a walking pace. The film’s retro‑pixel aesthetic and minimalist score keep the dread palpable long after the credits roll.
Best For
Horror fans, Indie film lovers, Teen drama enthusiasts, Atmospheric thriller seekers, 80s nostalgia fans
The CinePearl Take
Maika Monroe delivers a hauntingly vulnerable performance that anchors the film’s abstract terror in genuine fear. Mitchell’s deliberate pacing lets the curse creep into every frame, making ordinary suburban settings feel alien. The film’s subtext about sexual anxiety and generational guilt adds a psychological layer that lingers beyond the jump scares. Its sound design—bare, metallic, and often silent—amplifies the sense of being watched.
