Why Watch This
Lucía Puenzo reimagines the classic western through a sharply feminist lens, turning the dusty frontier into a stage for gender politics and raw, poetic violence. The film’s striking cinematography and haunting score make Pepita’s quest for autonomy as visually arresting as it is emotionally resonant.

The CinePearl Take
Puenzo’s direction balances brutal shoot‑outs with tender moments of introspection, letting the landscape echo Pepita’s inner turmoil. The lead—an emerging Argentine talent—delivers a magnetic performance, embodying both steely resolve and fragile vulnerability. While the pacing occasionally lingers in mood‑setting, it ultimately serves the film’s meditation on power, identity, and the myth of the lone hero.
