The CinePearl Take
Philip Koch’s debut is a moody homage to classic noir, anchored by a haunting performance from newcomer Maya Liu as the archivist whose curiosity drives the plot. The deliberate pacing lets the city itself become a character, with each brick revealing a fragment of the larger mystery. While the narrative occasionally stalls, the atmospheric cinematography and a resonant score keep the tension humming. The film’s thematic focus on memory and construction feels both literal and metaphorical, adding depth to the whodunit.
