Why Watch This

Rangoon blends high‑octane war drama with a forbidden love triangle, delivering lush period production and a gripping look at the lesser‑known Indian involvement in WWII’s Southeast Asian front.

Best For

History buffs, War drama fans, Fans of Vishal Bhardwaj, Kangana Ranaut admirers, Complex romance lovers, Indian cinema enthusiasts

The CinePearl Take

Bhardwaj’s ambitious canvas is anchored by Kangana Ranaut’s fierce, layered performance as a fiery nationalist caught between duty and desire. Shahid Kapoor brings a brooding intensity to his role as a wounded soldier, while Saif Ali Khan’s suave, morally ambiguous officer adds a volatile edge. The film’s pacing wavers in the middle, but the climactic siege of Rangoon is a visceral triumph, underscoring the tragic cost of ambition and loyalty.
