Why Watch This
A stark, 18‑minute meditation on duty and identity, “The Uniformed” captures the claustrophobic rhythm of army life while subtly exposing the cracks in institutional conformity. Timon Ott’s precise framing and Antonis Antoniadis’s understated performance make the film feel both intimate and unsettlingly universal.
Best For
Drama fans, Military enthusiasts, Short‑film lovers, Festival‑circuit viewers, German‑cinema aficionados
The CinePearl Take
Ott’s direction is disciplined yet lyrical, letting the monotony of drills speak louder than any dialogue. Antoniadis shines in the film’s quiet moments, conveying a restless yearning with just a glance. The pacing drifts deliberately, mirroring the protagonist’s slow realization that his unit’s “uniformity” is a façade. Ultimately, the short asks whether obedience can survive when the uniform itself unravels.
