The CinePearl Take
Sakai’s direction is relentless yet lyrical, letting the camera glide as fluidly as the protagonists’ footwork. The breakout performance by newcomer Yui Tanaka, who plays the determined rookie dancer Maya, anchors the film with emotional depth amid the flash‑filled set pieces. While the pacing occasionally stalls during exposition, the climactic showdown in a flooded warehouse is a kinetic masterpiece that redefines the genre’s possibilities.
