The CinePearl Take
Choi Byung‑gil’s direction brings his kinetic action sensibility to a more restrained, atmospheric horror, making each episode feel like a tarot spread—cards are turned slowly, revealing dread piece by piece. The central performance by newcomer Lee Jae‑ho as a tormented tarot reader is chilling and nuanced, anchoring the supernatural chaos. The pacing is deliberately measured, allowing creeping paranoia to build before the occasional blood‑soaked set‑pieces erupt. Themes of fate versus free will are explored through tarot symbolism, giving the series a philosophical edge beyond typical jump scares.
