The CinePearl Take
Klaus Härö crafts a restrained yet emotionally resonant film, letting the icy landscapes mirror the protagonist’s internal conflict. Kirill Käro shines as the conflicted fencing master, delivering a performance that balances stoic duty with a lingering tenderness for his students. The deliberate pacing allows each duel to feel like a meditation on freedom, while the supporting cast adds depth to a community living under surveillance.
