Why Watch This
"I Love Peru" offers a mesmerizing blend of sweeping Andean vistas and a quirky, semi‑scripted love story that feels both intimate and epic. Quenard’s handheld camera invites viewers into bustling markets and remote highlands while following a fictional French photographer’s quest for connection.
Best For
Documentary lovers, Travel enthusiasts, Indie film fans, Romantic drama seekers, Cultural explorers
The CinePearl Take
Quenard’s docufiction walks a tightrope between observation and invention, and it lands most of the time thanks to the magnetic presence of local guide Rosa, whose unscripted commentary anchors the film’s wandering narrative. The pacing slows deliberately during the high‑altitude sequences, letting the silence of the mountains breathe, then picks up in Lima’s neon streets for a burst of kinetic energy. At its heart, the film meditates on how love can be a geography as much as an emotion, a theme that feels surprisingly fresh in 2025.
