The CinePearl Take

Jeremiah S. Chechik’s direction swings between slick set‑pieces and uneven pacing, but the film’s charm shines through its audacious set design and period‑accurate tech toys. Sean Connery’s brief but memorable turn as the enigmatic Sir August adds gravitas to an otherwise flamboyant cast, especially Keeley Hawes, who balances lethal poise with wry humor. While the plot meanders in places, the movie’s self‑aware tone and occasional bursts of genuine tension make it a curious artifact worth revisiting.
