The CinePearl Take

Vanessa Nöcker’s direction is meticulous, letting the rhythm of the matches dictate the film’s pacing while interspersing quiet, personal recollections that humanize the spectacle. The standout moment comes from a candid interview with former Italian midfielder Roberto Baggio, whose reflections on pressure and national identity add emotional depth. Nöcker’s use of split‑screen archival clips against contemporary cityscapes creates a compelling visual dialogue between past and present, though the documentary occasionally lingers on less relevant side‑stories, slightly diluting its momentum.
