Why Watch This
Max Landis’s take on the classic tale injects a self‑aware, darkly comic edge into the original’s blend of body horror and London‑nightmare atmosphere. The film leans into practical effects while peppering the narrative with modern anxieties about identity and fame.

The CinePearl Take
Landis’s script balances reverence for John Landis’s 1981 masterpiece with a fresh, meta‑narrative that feels more at home in today’s streaming era. The pacing deliberately drags during the protagonist’s descent, amplifying the dread of transformation. While the cast is largely unknown, the lead’s visceral performance as the cursed tourist anchors the chaos. The film’s practical makeup work remains a highlight, reminding us why the original set the gold standard for werewolf effects.
