The CinePearl Take
Passaniti’s restrained yet emotionally resonant turn as a washed‑up prodigy is the film’s beating heart, making the audience feel every silent gamble. Namer’s direction is deliberately paced, allowing the tension of each match to build like a slow‑creeping storm. The film explores themes of obsession, class struggle, and the fragile line between genius and self‑destruction, all captured in a muted, almost documentary‑style visual palette.
