The CinePearl Take

Afineevsky’s direction lets the crowd become the protagonist, with no need for a traditional narrator—every scream, chant, and tear is its own commentary. The pacing mirrors the escalation of the protests, moving from hopeful gatherings to brutal crackdowns, which keeps tension high throughout. The film’s greatest strength lies in its human focus: the faces of ordinary Ukrainians become powerful symbols of resilience and sacrifice.
