Why Watch This
Lee Sun‑jung’s “Guitar Man” fuses gritty street‑level storytelling with a soaring, original soundtrack that feels both retro‑rock and distinctly Korean. The film’s visual flair—neon‑lit night markets, kinetic concert sequences, and intimate backstage moments—offers a fresh take on the musical genre.
Best For
Musical lovers, Korean cinema fans, Indie film enthusiasts, Guitar aficionados, Coming‑of‑age story fans
The CinePearl Take
Lee Sun‑jung’s direction is unapologetically bold, using handheld cameras to make every jam session feel like a live‑wire concert. Newcomer Park Ji‑hoon, as the tormented yet charismatic Guitar Man, delivers a magnetic performance that anchors the film’s emotional core. The pacing oscillates between frenetic gig montages and quiet, character‑driven interludes, underscoring themes of artistic redemption and the search for identity in a rapidly modernising Seoul.
