The CinePearl Take

Tollenaere’s direction is patient yet probing, allowing the city itself to become a character that mirrors the protagonist’s inner turbulence. While the cast remains unnamed, the lead’s subtle, almost wordless performance conveys a haunting blend of nostalgia and resolve, anchoring the film’s meditative pace. Themes of memory, displacement, and the search for authenticity are explored with a quiet intensity that rewards attentive viewers. The soundtrack—an eclectic mix of contemporary French electronica and classic chanson—underscores each scene without ever overwhelming the narrative.
