The CinePearl Take

Kent Jones crafts a sleek, interview‑driven narrative that feels more like a masterclass than a conventional documentary. Martin Scorsese’s reverent recollection of Hitchcock’s suspense mechanics stands out as a highlight, while Wes Anderson’s whimsical anecdotes provide a playful counterpoint. The pacing is deliberate, allowing each director’s perspective to breathe, and the recurring theme—how storytelling evolves across generations—resonates long after the credits roll.
