The CinePearl Take
Stepanyan’s debut showcases an uncanny ability to coax raw emotion from a largely non‑professional cast, especially the haunting performance of the village matriarch who embodies both loss and resilience. The film’s deliberate pacing allows the landscape to become a character in its own right, echoing the internal stillness of its protagonists. Themes of identity, displacement, and the weight of history are explored with a quiet intensity that rewards patient viewers.
