Celeste and Jesse Forever captures the awkward honesty of a breakup that refuses to end, blending humor with genuine heartache. Rashida Jones’s witty script and Andy Samberg’s unexpectedly grounded turn make the film feel both fresh and relatable.

Best For

Rom-com fans, breakup movie lovers, indie film enthusiasts, fans of Rashida Jones, witty dialogue seekers, post-2010 dramedy fans

The CinePearl Take

The film’s biggest strength lies in the chemistry between Jones and Samberg, who trade barbs with a sincerity that keeps the audience invested beyond the typical rom‑com formula. Krieger’s direction maintains a breezy pace while allowing quieter moments to breathe, highlighting the lingering intimacy between exes. Though the supporting cast—especially Chris Messina’s earnest best friend—adds texture, the narrative occasionally stumbles when it leans too heavily on indie tropes.
