The CinePearl Take

Prechtel’s patient pacing lets the story unfold like a rehearsal, giving space for each interviewee to reflect on Schleef’s impact. The film’s strongest moments come from the juxtaposition of grainy 1970s rehearsal footage with crisp present‑day reflections, highlighting the timelessness of his aesthetic concerns. While there are no traditional “performances,” the documentary itself performs as a living archive, inviting viewers to piece together Schleef’s fragmented legacy.
