Why Watch This

Sonja Kröner’s “Horse on a Stick” turns a simple visual gag into a razor‑sharp commentary on the absurdity of fame in the digital age, all while delivering a delightfully off‑kilter visual style that feels both playful and unsettling.

Best For

Indie film fans, Dark comedy lovers, Satire seekers, Festival goers, Experimental cinema fans

The CinePearl Take

Kröner’s direction is daring, using the recurring image of a horse perched on a stick to underscore the characters’ desperate grasp at relevance. The film’s deliberate, almost languid pacing lets the surreal set pieces breathe, while newcomer Lena Vogel delivers a surprisingly grounded performance as the disillusioned influencer at the story’s core. Its blend of deadpan humor and visual metaphor makes it a quirky but thoughtful entry in contemporary satire.
