Why Watch This
Shikari offers a rare glimpse of Govinda stepping out of his comic comfort zone to play a hard‑edged cop, delivering a surprisingly gritty performance. The film’s cat‑and‑mouse chase through Mumbai’s underbelly keeps the tension high, while Tabu adds emotional depth to the thriller’s stakes.
Best For
Thriller fans, Govinda devotees, 90s‑era Bollywood lovers, Dark crime enthusiasts, Fans of gritty urban dramas
The CinePearl Take
N. Chandra’s direction leans into shadowy street‑level storytelling, giving the film a noirish texture that feels ahead of its time for Bollywood. Govinda’s restrained, almost methodical portrayal of Inspector Arjun is the film’s standout, proving he can handle serious material. Tabu’s nuanced turn as a conflicted journalist adds a human counterpoint to the relentless pursuit. Though the pacing occasionally stalls, the climactic showdown delivers the payoff the genre promises.
