Why Watch This

Laxmii blends slap‑slap comedy with jump‑scare moments, delivering a wildly entertaining ride that leans into absurdity while still touching on themes of identity and acceptance. Akshay Kumar’s over‑the‑top performance as a possessed man who happens to be a trans woman adds a polarising yet unforgettable flavor to the film.

Best For

Comedy‑horror fans, LGBTQ‑themed movie seekers, Akshay Kumar enthusiasts, Light‑hearted horror nights, Fans of Indian masala cinema

The CinePearl Take

Raghava Lawrence’s direction swings between frantic gags and genuine scares, but the tonal whiplash often leaves the narrative feeling uneven. Akshay Kumar’s commitment to the role is both the film’s biggest asset and its most controversial element, delivering laughs while occasionally treading on caricature. Kiara Advani provides a grounded counterpoint, giving the story a fleeting emotional anchor amidst the chaos. Ultimately, Laxmii is a guilty‑pleasure romp that works best when you suspend disbelief and enjoy the ride for its sheer audacity.
